“Multinationals, Industry 4.0, and Purpose: Challenges, Constraints, and Hindrances” symposium

Roland Z. Szabó (Széchenyi István University, ODDEA Steering Commitee member) successfully presented the results of the ODDEA project at the 84th Annual Conference of the Academy of Management in the “Multinationals, Industry 4.0, and Purpose: Challenges, Constraints, and Hindrances” symposium (panel) discussion. Other invited members of the panel were:
Rui Torres de Oliveira (Queensland U. of Technology, Australia)
Ajai Singh Gaur (Rutgers U., United States)
Martie-Louise Verreynne (U. of Queensland, Australia)
Agnes Toth-Peter (Queensland U. of Technology, Australia)
Klaus Meyer (Ivey Business School, Canada)
The objective of this panel symposium was to explore and analyse the dynamic interplay between multinational enterprises (MNEs), the evolving landscape of Industry 4.0, and the integration of purpose-driven initiatives, such as sustainability and circular economy principles, within global business strategies. The symposium aimed to shed light on the challenges, constraints, and hindrances faced by MNEs as they navigate the complex intersection of Industry 4.0 and purpose-driven practices. This panel was very interactive with the audience.
Roland Z. Szabó drew attention to the causes of the digital divide, the inequalities at different levels, and the role of MNEs in overcoming the digital divide, among other issues.
