Researcher of the Month – July 2023

Ivan Piper was born on April 11, 1995 in Berane, where he graduated from the "Vuk
Karadžić" Elementary School and the "Panto Mališić" Gymnasium with excellent results. He
graduated from the Faculty of International Economics, Finance and Business (UDG) as a
UDG scholarship holder in 2017 with an average grade of 9.57, and in the same year he
enrolled in the postgraduate studies "Entrepreneurial Economics" (major "International
Economics") at the University of Donja Gorica. He enrolled in doctoral studies in 2020 at the
University of Donja Gorica as a recipient of a scholarship for doctoral research from the
Ministry of Science of Montenegro, and the area he is researching under the mentorship of
prof. Ph.D. Veselin Vukotić refers to the cultural roots of China's economic development. He
is the winner of several student awards and academic recognitions, among which, in
addition to the scholarship of the Ministry of Science for doctoral research, is also the
"Svetozar-Stiv Pejović" award of the University of Donja Gorica, for the best paper on the
topic "What is the future of democracy, political freedom, if people no longer know what
the essence of freedom is?".

He is the co-founder of several Montenegrin and international non-governmental
organizations that deal with the promotion and encouragement of entrepreneurship, and in
the period from 2016 to 2018 he was the leader of the Montenegrin branch of the
international organization "Students for Liberty". Since 2019, he has been working as an
associate at the University of Donja Gorica, and in the same year he was hired as a
researcher at the Institute for Strategic Studies and Prognoses.
