Dr. Wahida Ahmad is an associate professor in the Department of Finance of Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. She joined the one-month research secondment under the ODDEA project at Krakow University of Economics (KUE), Poland.
Dr Wahida holds a Ph.D. in Economics & Finance from La Trobe University, Australia, where her thesis focused on the productivity of Islamic and conventional banking in Malaysia and Bahrain. She also earned a Master of Commerce in Advanced Finance from The University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Finance from Universiti Teknologi MARA, where she graduated with First Class Honors and received the Vice-Chancellor Award. In addition to her formal education, Dr Wahida has obtained professional certifications, such as the Associate Qualification in Islamic Finance (AQIF), and maintains active involvement in key financial associations where she is currently the vice president of Malaysian Finance Association (MFA). Her academic interests center on finance, Islamic banking, and productivity. She conducts lectures in the field of managerial finance, financial statement analysis, sustainable finance and research methodology in finance. Her research interests are related to the issues of banking and finance, Islamic finance, productivity and efficiency, financial scam and fraud as well as panel data analysis. She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, including articles in academic journals and conference proceedings.
As part of the ODDEA project, Dr Wahida and the team, conducts research on digital transformation and digital divide in European countries, in particular the Visegrad countries. At KUE, Dr Wahida continues her data collection for the ODDEA project from ITU database and then screen and clean the data with the team members for both DESI and ITU databases. During her stay in Krakow, Dr Wahida joined the 16th International Scientific Conference of the College of Management and Quality Sciences of the Krakow University of Economics held on 23 May 2024. She also submitted a paper to be presented at 21st Four-Party Scientific Conference Contemporary Economy in the Face of Economic, Social and Political Crises Economic, Managerial, Social and Legal Aspects organized in KUE.
